Generally not longer than 3 weeks. It depends on the item complexity, Loadshedding and the weather in the Drakensberg, as we may be there if conditions are good!

Beech and Ash are relatively hard species of timber and therefore great for durability.
We do mix it up a bit depending on what we can get our hands on, but both can be used for the smaller items. The larger items are mainly Beech as it is a more stable timber and is therefore less likely to twist, cup or bow under the varying conditions that it is subjected to. Beech sands to a silky smooth and both machine very well.
Birch Ply is STRONG and looks great. Plywood is pretty much thin slices of timber, laminated together alternating grain direction to give it strength. It has minimal defects, machines relatively well and stays nice and flat.
In humid weather, or from your sweat, the natural fibres in the wood absorb a bit of moisture and the “hairs” stick up. This is particularly noticeable on the Dome shaped Grips and Balance Blocks, on the areas where the end-grain is exposed.
You can take a bit of sandpaper, 220g or more, should you feel the need to “denib”. Alternatively, rotate the spherical grips to use the fibres to achieve more adhesion and let them naturally wear away.
